    Vikki Blows -

  9. livingartist-blog-blog asked: I find it disappointing, to say the least, that a tumblr named "female shapes" seems to be devoted solely to young, white, able-bodied, cisgendered, conventionally pretty female shapes. That's an incredibly narrow slice of the glorious diversity within femininity.

I agree. Seriously. And it’s not the first time someone points out the poor diversity. (sizes, color, age…)

But you have to understand (I should write a disclaimer) that this blog is not a thorough representation of what women are, but a fantasy of mine, and Femaleshapes is just a name. It means I only reblog what I see on my dash that moves me. I totally plead guilty about the narrow slice of beauty, but you have to forgive me. They mostly are similar to my girlfriend. We are young, cisgendered, slim and able-bodied. And the fact is I reblog only what is published on my dash. About “white”, I searched for more diversified tumblrs, I asked my followers to give me links, but as it is now, I see more white women on my dash. I’d like that to change. (the irony is that we are a mixed couple)

I’m aware that my choices can make some women feel uncomfortable, like magazines do. But I decided to come to terms with that. I don’t think I should make quotas, or give up reblogging photos I find aesthetically moving.

Thank you for your comment. And yes, diversity IS glorious.

PS: you don’t have an “ask box” so I can’t contact you.
